ODBC
This page deals with the ODBC configuration which is required to run The Racing System. Under normal circumstances, these settings are established during the installation procedure and should not require any changes.
How ODBC is used
The Racing System uses ODBC to communicate with the database. We use the client-server database SQLAnywhere provided by Sybase. The database itself is named race.db and normally resides within the directory specified during installation. When the application is not running, this file is normally read-only.
ODBC Settings
To view the current ODBC configuration settings, use the following steps:
- Start the Control Panel.
- Run the ODBC applet as found in the Control Panel.
- Select the Data Source named Race.
- Click on Configure.
The following image depicts the default settings. See below for a table which contains the same information in text form.
Default Settings
The following table contains the default configuration settings necessary to run the application. We recommend that you do not change the values set by the installation procedure. Note that your values may be different especially if you have installed to a non-default directory.
